Liscomb Island

As it says on the image, this is a picture of the lighthouse from the 70s. This is one of the only images we could find of the site still intact. Not a lot seems to be known about this site, your basic Google search yields very little information or history. So we decided it made sense to go check it out. See if we couldn't find Jack and the hatch ourselves.

Biggest mistake we made? trusting Google maps. We knew their was a power line with poles that crossed the island from our starting tip (top left of map) to the lighthouse site (bottom left). That knowledge paired with this image reassured us that we had a straight shot across the island....................

 found the power lines

few trees across the "trail"

oh gawd! it got worse, so much worse. At some point during the bush whacking my favorite flipflops got ripped off of my pack and are now being raised by deer in the wild. #RIP

We decided to cut our losses and head back to the coast and try our luck there.

Much better. Other than a few death cliffs and a couple crevices, it was pretty smooth sailing.

(everything for this trip was shot on a GoPro)

Just about there
 oh, ohhhh, somethings peeking
Touch down! PS the whole site is surrounded by knee deep bogs. Some shoes were harmed in the making of this blog.
As you can see there are significantly less building versus the 1970s pic.
